Thursday, January 9th.
Today we woke up early, expecting to go to our schools and meet our cooperating teachers. School doesn't start until Wednesday but today was suppose to be a teacher work day. We got up early, dressed professionally, and headed nervously to our schools. We are split up amongst three different schools and each school were deserted! So... No first day for us. Instead we went home and got ready for a hike! We drove maybe thirty minutes outside of Windhoek to Daan Viljoan. Game Reserve. We went on a one hour hike. Oh goodness, I cannot explain how beautiful it was. It felt like we were in the Arizona mountains. We saw wild animals roaming around like wildebeest, giraffes, wort hogs, and antelopes. The best part was on our drive into the park where we saw a herd of giraffes eating on the side of the road! They were seriously fifteen feet away from us! They are so huge and they are not even phased that we were so close to them. Best experience!
P.S. This post should have pictures coming soon.
